Pumpkin Muffins and Homemade Butter

We had a fun day today!  First, we made pumpkin muffins.  They were so good!  The muffins were made by mixing a can of pumpkin and a pumpkin spice cake mix together.  After we cooked them we added some cream cheese icing on top of them!  They were delicious!!!  We gave them a "thumbs up!"

We also made homemade butter today and talked about how long ago people had to make their food instead of buying it already made at the grocery store.  We put whipping cream in a jar, shook it for about 10 minutes, and then we had butter!  We talked about liquids and solids and we thought it was so cool how the liquid whipping cream turned to a solid (butter) after shaking it in a jar!  We ate our butter on crackers and it was so good!!!

Our finished product!

We had a wonderful time with our families at our Family Fun Friday event!  We were so glad that our families came to watch us perform today!  We had fun sharing some work we have done in class, too, and serving them a snack we made!  We are so thankful for our amazing families!!!

Pattern Block Turkeys

Look at these turkeys we made during math time!  We had to use different pattern blocks to fill in the turkey pattern.  We did a great job with this activity!

Veterans Day Presentation #2

We had another veteran come and talk to us today.  He was in the army for several years and served in  many other countries.  He showed us some of his uniforms and several pictures, too.  We really liked the pictures he showed us of the helicopter he flew in while in the army!  He was awarded a Purple Heart, which we were fortunate enough to get to see today.  We are so thankful for the time he spent serving our country, and for all of our veterans!  They are true heroes!  Happy Veterans Day

We posed for a picture in front of the turkey that all of the kindergarten students made.  It is hanging in our school lobby.

Painting Day

Today was the day our classroom got painted.  We had to have class on the stage!  We did a great job being away from our classroom and all of our usual materials for a day!  We decided it was an "adventure" or "field trip" we got to have today.  One student said we were "class sick" instead of "home sick!"

This is what our classroom looked like when we checked on it at the end of the day!  Fresh paint but a lot of things to put back in their places!

Mrs. Bickel found a baby toad in our classroom window! She got him put safely back outside before leaving school for the evening!

Veterans Day Presentation

We had two parents come and talk about the time they spent in the Army National Guard.  They brought a lot of items for us to see and try on, which we really enjoyed!  We asked them some great questions, and learned a lot about the military and being deployed.  Our visitors were both deployed to Iraq for almost one year.  We are so thankful that people serve our country and protect us!!!

Fun Friday/Pumpkin Seeds

We made a turkey to hang in the front lobby of our school.  It looks fabulous!!!

All of the kindergarten students worked on making the turkey together for Fun Friday!

Some pumpkin seeds have started sprouting!  We can't wait to see if more seeds sprout next week!
