Spring Break is Here!

Today was our last day of school before starting Spring Break!  It's hard to believe that when we come back it will be April!

We played some "Egg Bingo" this morning to practice our numbers.  We also had to find hidden plastic eggs in our classroom and practice reading and writing the words hidden inside of them!  We were really good at these activities!

For our math time we did "Jelly Bean Math."  We had to sort, graph, and count our jelly beans.  This lesson was fun because we also got to eat our jelly beans!

For an art activity we got to design and paint an egg, and then decide what kind of creature would hatch from our egg!  Mrs. Bickel couldn't believe how creative we were with this activity!  We sure thought of some interesting things to hatch from our eggs!

"Egg-citing" Work!

We played a game today that helped us practice our sight words.  We had to read the word we landed on and follow the egg path to the finish line.  This was great sight word practice for us!

In math today we had to find eggs hidden around the room.  Inside each egg was an addition problem.  We wrote he addition problems on our papers and solved them.  This was a fun way to practice our addition facts!

HyVee Field Trip

We had a great field trip to HyVee today!  We got to do so many fun things while we were there!  We went in the kitchen area and watched how they make pizzas, toured the BIG freezer where ice cream is kept, learned how they make flowers for cakes using icing, visited the pharmacy area, saw a $100.00 bill at the bank in HyVee, and took home a bag full of goodies to eat!  We had a great field trip!

We were so tired when we got back to school!  The walk to and from HyVee wore us out!!!  We had to come back to school and stretch out our bodies before going outside to recess!  We really aren't asleep in this picture!  We just wanted Mrs. Bickel to think we were asleep!

Painting Time!

We painted umbrellas today!  It had been a while since we had painted in our classroom, so we thought this was a lot of fun!  We are so creative and the new bulletin board is going to look great with our artwork hanging on it!  Look for a picture soon of our completed bulletin board!

St. Patrick's Day!

We had so much fun today at school!  Lucky the Leprechaun visited our school last night and messed up things in our classroom!  He did leave us some fun treats like shamrock hats, chocolate coins, gold coins, leprechaun toys, and St. Patrick's Day erasers!  We decided he must have snuck out our window because his hat, gold, and shamrock plant were next to the window this morning! We even had a huge trap some students made in our classroom and it didn't catch him!

Leprechaun Trap

The leprechaun tied our chairs together!!!

The leprechaun read some books last night!

This is what he left by our window!

Lucky the Leprechaun left us some St. Patrick's Day reading, writing, and math work today!

We had "Dress Like a Leprechaun Day" today in kindergarten!  We looked great!!!

We tasted green foods at snack time today!  We appreciated the parents who prepared and sent the green foods for us today!  We got to try the following green foods: peppers, olives, limes, cucumbers, kiwi slices, broccoli pieces, M&M's, celery sticks, grapes, and pickles.  Some of us decided we liked some of the new foods we tried!

We had a great St. Patrick's Day!!!

Leprechaun Traps

We met with our 3rd grade buddies today and got to see the leprechaun traps they made.  We would all love it if one of the traps would catch a leprechaun!  The 3rd graders explained how their traps worked and how they planned on trying to catch a leprechaun in our school tonight.  We had fun looking at their traps...and we were great listeners!  We also read a book with the them called "How to Catch a Leprechaun."  This was a fun book to read!
