Community Helpers - Day 4 (fire truck)

The fire truck came to our school today!  We got to see the tools and supplies that are in a fire truck, and we got to climb inside the fire truck!  The firefighter put on his uniform for us, too.  We know that we don't have to be scared of firefighters when they are in their uniforms because they are very helpful people to us!  

Community Helpers - Day 3

We had a banker come and talk to us about what he does at the bank.  We learned from him that four quarters equals $1.00.  He even gave us each $1.00 to take home with us and put in our piggy banks!

This parent works in the Human Resouces Department at a hospital.  She hires nurses for the hospital.  She told us that the hospital is a really big place and a lot of people work there!

We learned what a Media Speicialist does today, too.  We all thought she just checked books in and out and helped us in our school library.  However, we learned how she has to help students and teachers in our school learn how to use iPads, laptops, and computers.  She read a brand new book to us, too!

Community Helpers - Day 2/Fun Friday

We had a doctor come to our class today and talk about what she does at work to help people.  She let us practice listening to our friends' hearts and we thought that was really cool!  She showed us how she checks patients' eyes, ears, and throats, too.  Some of us want to be doctors when we grow up, too!  She said we were really smart because we knew the bones she showed us on some x-rays she brought!  

We made a special snack for Fun Friday to end Fire Safety Week.  The ladders we made were delicious!  We gave them a "thumbs up!!!"

Fire Safety/Community Helpers

We practiced "Stop, Drop, and Roll" today.  The students were great at doing this!  We also practiced crawling low to the ground in order to breathe "good air."  This students know a lot about Fire Safety!

We had a Software Engineer come and talk to us today!  We liked when he showed us how to program the computer and tell it to do different things!  This was the first parent presentation we had for our "Community Helpers" unit we are doing in Social Studies.  We are excited that we have many parents coming to talk to us about their careers this month!

Fire Safety Week

We are busy learning about fire safety this week!  Next week a real fire truck is coming to our school!  We had fun making and putting out pretend fires in our classroom today!  

Choice Time

We worked so well with our friends at Choice Time today!  We had friends having a birthday party, drawing in the art area, building in the block area, reading in the book area, playing in the sensory table, and working with the doll house.  Mrs. Bickel thinks we are so creative and she loves to hear us talk to each other when we work at Choice Time!

Look at the crazy socks we wore today for Spirit Day!  We are excited for the Fairview Fever Festival tonight!!!

We are great at doing Literacy Centers!  Mrs. Bickel changed some of the centers today because we needed some new challenges!

We had fun making a fall mural with our friends for Fun Friday!
