Another Fun Friday!

We made bird feeders today!  We used cardboard tubes, peanut butter, and bird seed to make our bird feeders.  During science we have been studying living and nonliving things.  We can't wait to hang up our bird feeders and see what kinds of "living things" eat from them!

For Fun Friday, we decorated different types of wooden vehicles with markers.  Then, we made ramps and roads for them to travel on to get them to go fast or slow.  Some of us even figured out that if we tied strings to our vehicles we could pull them instead of having to push them.  We were thinking like little engineers!  This activity was an introduction to our upcoming force and motion unit we will be doing in science.

Field Trip Fun!

We had a wonderful field trip to Stephens Lake today!  The weather was beautiful and the kids did a great job fishing!  We had fabulous helpers today!   Thanks to all of the parents and grandparents who went along with us!

These were the only two fish we caught today!

We stopped for a picture while on our walk on the trail!

We had fun playing at the park!

We were really hungry after fishing and playing!

We were so tired from having so much fun that we had to take a little rest while waiting on the bus to arrive to take us back to school!

This was the snack we had when arriving back at school!  We used pretzel sticks to "go fishing" for our Goldfish crackers in our icing "lakes!"  We loved the gummy worms, too!!!

Lima Bean Sprouts/Seeds

It was so exciting to discover today that our lima beans we planted on Friday had sprouted!  We will continue to watch them grow this week!  We are keeping a plant journal so that we can record each day how the seeds look.

We examined various types of seeds today!  We noticed the different shapes, sizes, and colors the seeds were.

A Very Fun Friday!

We had a very fun day at school today!  It started with a presentation about Peru!  A mother of a student in our class is from Peru and she came and talked to us.  We loved getting to sample a couple of foods from Peru, and we really liked the animal finger puppets she gave us!  She showed us some really neat pictures and items from Peru!

We started our plant unit in science this week.  We planted basil seeds yesterday, and today we planted lima beans in our own little "greenhouses."  We can't wait to see if anything sprouts next week!

To end our day, we made kites using plastic sacks and yarn.  After tying the yarn to our bag handles to make kites, we went outside and flew them.  It was so windy today!  Some of the kites flew right out of our hands!  We quickly learned that we had to hold onto our kite strings with two hands!  This was a really fun activity!

Beautiful Day for a Nature Walk!

We were all so happy to be back at school today with our friends!  We had so many stories to share with each other about things we did on Spring Break!

The weather was so beautiful today, so we took a nature walk and looked for signs of Spring!  We found so many things on our nature walk!

Spring Break is Here!

Today was our last day of school before starting Spring Break!  It's hard to believe that when we come back it will be April!

We played some "Egg Bingo" this morning to practice our numbers.  We also had to find hidden plastic eggs in our classroom and practice reading and writing the words hidden inside of them!  We were really good at these activities!

For our math time we did "Jelly Bean Math."  We had to sort, graph, and count our jelly beans.  This lesson was fun because we also got to eat our jelly beans!

For an art activity we got to design and paint an egg, and then decide what kind of creature would hatch from our egg!  Mrs. Bickel couldn't believe how creative we were with this activity!  We sure thought of some interesting things to hatch from our eggs!
