Feliz Navidad

We had fun singing at our assembly today!

Fun Friday!!!

What a fun day it was today!  It started with arriving at school to find that Marshmallow the Elf had played tricks on us!  Check out the pictures below and you'll see what we mean!

We had a really fun assembly today, too!  We sang songs and watched teachers go on stage to play some "minute to win it" games.  It was a lot of fun and we cheered for Mrs. Bickel when she went on stage!

We checked on the reindeer and listened to Santa read some letters children had written him.  You can check out the live reindeer cam online, too!

At choice time we had fun experimenting with wrapping paper tubes!  We are some creative children!

Finally, we ended our day with a class party.  It was so much fun!  What a great day we had today!!!

Today was "Grinch/Whoville Day" at our school.  Check out the pictures below to see how some of us dressed!

We got to meet with our 3rd Grade Buddies today, too.  We had fun playing a holiday game with them and eating candy canes!

Winter Hat Day/Peppermint Experiments

Today was Winter Hat Day at our school!  We sure looked cute in our hats!

We did some experimenting today with peppermint candies and candy canes.  We made predictions about what would happen if we put peppermint candies and candy canes in water.  Our predictions were correct!  We predicted that eventually the red stripes would come off of the candies.  We also predicted that the candies would shrink and they did.  The cool part was watching how the water turned pink after we stirred it up, and watching how the stripes made neat designs in the water as the red stripes were disappearing off of the candies!  Our containers of water smelled good, too, because they smelled like peppermint!

After one hour in water, this it what our candy cane looked like.  We only had half of the candy cane down in the water, that's why the other half looks normal.

Mrs. Bickel blew peppermint scented bubbles after we did our experiments!  We had fun popping them on our classroom!

Elf on the Shelf

Yesterday a package was in our classroom and when we opened it we discovered that it was an Elf on the Shelf!  We read the book that came with the elf and it explained that we are not to touch the elf or he will lose his magic.  His job is to report to Santa each night.

This morning when we arrived at school, he had escaped from his box!  We found him hanging upside down from the Smartboard!  We named him Marshmallow and each day we are going to do our best at school so he will report good things to Santa!

Polar Express Day

We had a really fun day today!  It was Polar Express Day!  We wore our pajamas to school, drank hot chocolate, watched the movie of "The Polar Express," and made a train snack to eat!  We even all got a Polar Express ticket and Christmas bell to take home!  It was so much fun!!!

The hot chocolate was delicious!

This was the train snack we made!  It was so yummy!

Making Snow

We really wish it would snow!  Since snow is not in the forecast, we decided we would make our own snow!  We used some insta-snow (that a parent was nice enough to give us) and we made our own tub of snow in our sensory table!  We added some snowflakes, blue rocks, polar bears, and penguins. The insta-snow was so cool to watch "grow" because after we added water to the insta-snow it even felt cold like real snow!!!  The sensory table was "snow much fun" to play with today!
